Spiritual Direction
Spiritual direction is a long-standing religious practice among most all Christian denominations. Benefits are…
For me, spiritual direction is a relationship where one (the spiritual director) is called and committed to accompany another (the directee) to further discover and respond to God’s Presence in his or her life.
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, the director and directee work together to recognize and respond to experiences of God.
and grow more aware of God’s desire for an intimate, personal relationship. My practice of spiritual direction is based upon my personal faith which is grounded in the Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition of the Roman Catholic Church.
Practically, spiritual direction is a regular monthly commitment, usually an hour in length. Privacy and confidentiality are important elements of spiritual direction that respect the holy and sacred experience of sharing one’s prayer life.
An initial period of 3-6 sessions is typical to discern if the relationship between director and directee is a mutually fruitful experience. Along with gratuitous sessions, stipends ranging between $20-50 are also accepted.
